Hollywood Walk of Fame


 On this day in 1960, the official groundbreaking ceremony for the Hollywood Walk of Fame was held.

The first star to be dedicated was for Joanne Woodward.

She won the Academy Award for Best Actress in The Three Faces of Eve (1957).



The Walk of Fame became an official landmark in 1978.

Categories include: motion pictures, television, recording, radio and live performance.

Gene Autry is the only honoree with stars in all five categories.

The most recent dedication went to the Jonas Brothers, on January 30th.

Theirs became the 2,745th star.
