My Shots - Donner Pass Road

Image
We took the Old US 40 route around Donner Lake and across the Yuba River. Then we found ourselves on the North Fork American River from Emigrant Gap.

My Shots - Across the Desert

We found a lukewarm spring in the Kirch Wildlife Area. We stopped in Eureka, which has some old timey bits. And a perfect Valentine's Hot Spring.

My Shots - Labor Day Weekend

Saturday we just took a drive to escape the rain - Deus had mentioned Hwy 4 so we ended up taking Ebbett's Pass.  And it was a hell of a road, as he warned. We stopped at the above Everly Falls.  We turned off for Highland Lakes, and found a decent spot or two for forest camping along the North Fork Mokelumne River. But we decided to stay on and follow the pass down to Angel's Camp, though we had some regret as we entered the humidity of the valley.  We went back towards Jackson and up 88. Back in town we decided to give the desert a try, maybe even run into some burners.  But we had the space all to ourselves for a camp night. A Monday swim for the pups.

My Shots - Desert Drives

First up, we checked out Kyle Hot Springs. Somebody built an awesome tub here. Next, Hubby wanted to see if Wall Canyon was frozen over. And we stayed for the night. Bowie likes to look out on the water, whereas Mighty is waiting for fish.

My Shots - Miles on the Car

We picked up a black Jeep Patriot that we're calling RamJam - Black Betty, Bamalam. We got new tires on, so we've been driving around more than usual. Dinner on the river in Truckee. It's also been nice with the heat to get out and feel the cooler mountain air.

Wild bighorn!!  But we also passed someone's shearing station with little lambs. And then shiny rock in the distance caught our attention.

My Shots - Roadtrip Day 3

At some point, Wildhorse Reservoir became our destination so Hubby could fish. In the morning, I saw a stalking heron. And an otter!!  I had no idea they could be found over here. It was such a spontaneous trip, but we saw some amazing things being where we didn't expect to be. #HomeMeansNevada
