La Dispute - Somewhere at the Bottom of the River and Between Vega and Altair
This was a fun one. They're considered post-hardcore experimental rock. I was reminded of the band, At the Drive In, and it turns out they consider them an influence.
This is their debut album from 2008, re-released for the 10 year anniversary. The band originally formed in 2004 up in Grand Rapids, MI where they played mostly house shows. Their bio says Jordan Dreyer, frontman, was never a singer and didn't write music, but wrote poetry and short fiction. This is evident in his songs.
