World Watercolor Month

World Watercolor Month is a charitable event to support Arts Education.

JMW Turner is one of Britain's most beloved artists - "A View of the Archbishop's Palace, Lambeth" was his very first watercolor, at the age of 15, and it was accepted into the Royal Academy summer exhibition in 1790.

William Blake is more famously known as a poet, but he also experimented with watercolor.  He would draw in graphite first, and then paint.  "Fleeing From the Wrath of God" was inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy.

Elizabeth Murray is the founder of The Society of Female Artists in London.  She used the "traditional English method" of superimposing fine layers of mixed colors to create an effect of color and depth.  This is "Morocco," 1849.

Van Gogh never thought much of his watercolor paintings...
"Peach Tree in Blossom"

Paul Klee's art used abstract shapes to form representational scenery.
"Hair Dryer in the Marc'schen Garden"

Frank Webb is one of few artists who only paints in watercolors.
"Market in Mexico"

Feel free to share some of your favorites, or your own works if you have them!
