Animal Life - Lion Day

 

Katanga Lion (Southwest African)

Congo lion (Northeast)

Transvaal lion (Southeastern)

Nubian lion (East African)

Barbary lion

Asiatic lion

West African lion

Of those, the West African is the smallest.  They also tend to have weak manes, or none at all.

They are all considered vulnerable, but others are "critically endangered" in some parts of Africa.

There are conservation efforts in play, such as the Okavango Wilderness Project and the Moholoholo Rehabilitation Center.

More specifically to lions, I found the Ewaso Lion Project in Kenya.
