Burning Man Delay
Yesterday I mentioned that exodus had begun off the playa, and at home we were all talking about how the man has never not burned, even during the pandemic shutdown. We were getting the impression it was cancelled, but it burned last night, and tonight will be the temple.
This year's theme was Animalia. In honor of ourselves, the many species that live among and around the desert, as well as the deities that humans have long looked up to.
Burning Man's Principle of Immediacy speaks to embracing "a natural world exceeding human powers," suggesting that our humanist values don't and can't tell the whole story of our culture. The 10 Principles are an attitude of compassion, cooperation, and respect for all life.
