My Shots - Highway 50

Middlegate was named in the 1800's by James Simpson - there's also Eastgate and Westgate, as he felt the mountains in the area were gate-like.

The building was originally part of the Overland Stage and Freight Company and was a change station for the Pony Express.

Tons of historical markers going down Highway 50.  This one was another stagecoach and Pony Express station.  Some rock ruins remain, but not much.
