Science is Fun Fridays!

 


Normally, the International Space Station can only be seen at night, shining with reflected sunlight.

But on occasion, if a photographer is ready as it passes right in front of the Sun, short exposures can capture the ISS silhouette during the day.

This photo represents a series of images taken by Wang Letian in Beijing, China earlier this month.

Texture has been highlighted, and we can see numerous gaseous prominences around the edge.



Here's a beautiful picture taken aboard ISS, as sunlight shimmered on the Atlantic Ocean.
