 In the spirit of Halloween this month, I have some horror history to share today. On November 13, 1974 Ronald DeFeo Jr entered an Amityville bar and told everyone his parents had been shot.  A number of people returned to the house with him, police were called.  Inside the home they found Ronald Sr, his wife Louise, and their children; Dawn, Allison, Marc, and John. On November 14, Jr confessed to the crimes, after claiming it had been a mob hit. On this day in 1975, his trial began.  His attorney argued for an insanity defense, but he was convicted on six counts of second-degree murder. The interesting thing is all six of the victims were killed in their sleep, with no sign of a struggle, and no neighbors reported hearing gunshots, even though the rifle did not have a silencer... In December 1975, the Lutzes moved into the home.  They had been advised of the murders, and got a nice deal.  They only stayed 28 days before leaving everything behind, claiming...

 Some friends of ours have been creating a perfect backyard for themselves, but also for others to enjoy.  They love to host parties, and we love to show up. Here you can see the recently completed pool pond - and this is Cali. This is Gabe, the only horse I really know. They did get a friend for him a few months back but he's a shy boy. They love their little bit of lake view.  I'm crouching for the flowers, but you can still see it out there. And this is when I learned about Chambongs.   My buddy and I finished off a whole bottle of Prosecco this way.  ^_^

 Eddie Van Halen passed away yesterday at the age of 65. I never got big into the band, but of course I've grown up with them, and I can remember listening at a young age.  I will always know the sound of his guitar... The band was founded in 1972 in Pasadena, CA.  Eddie and his brother Alex were born in Amsterdam, having moved to Pasadena in 1962.  When they first started playing together, Eddie was on drums and Alex was on guitar - but Alex would sneak onto his drum set so Eddie angrily said, "Fine, then I'll play your guitar!" and the roles were forever changed.  With their first band, Genesis, Eddie was going to sing, but they needed to rent a sound system.  David Lee Roth was willing, and to save money, they let him join the band.  Upon realizing there was already a band named Genesis, they changed to Mammoth, before finally settling on Van Halen.
