Throwback Thursday
For our second anniversary we went to Aptos, CA - a wonderful little beach town.
We were on the Rio del Mar Beach, but a skip down is Seacliffs State Beach with the sunken ship at the end of the pier.
The SS Palo Alto was a concrete ship built for service in World War I, but the war was over when it was finally complete. It sat in a shipyard in Oakland before being moved here.
A pool, cafe, and dancefloor were built along with the pier, but the venue was never a hit. The ship was abandoned and left to deteriorate.
